CFA Urges New York Legislature to Adopt Money-Saving Energy and Water Efficiency Standards

CFA sent a letter to members of the New York State Legislature in support of S.7176, a bill relating to energy and water efficiency standards.   It includes standards for common household products, including air purifiers, computers and monitors, faucets, showerheads, portable air conditioners, and televisions standards. The proposed product and appliance standards will deliver a projected $15 billion of total utility bill savings by 2035 forNew York consumers, including an estimated $6 billion in total utility bill savings for low- to moderate-income households. The standards will also help New York meet its climate goals, as the standards have the potential to deliver the reduction of over 36 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions over the lifetime of measures in place by 2030 – equivalent to removing an average of half a million cars from the road each year.
