CFA convenes a variety of annual events including the National Food Policy Conference, the Financial Services Conference, the Awards Celebration, and Consumer Assembly. Our conferences and events bring together members, advocates, state and federal regulators, industry leaders, researchers, media, and other stakeholders to engage in lively debates and discussions covering the most pressing consumer issues and trends.

National Food Policy Conference

Since 1978, the National Food Policy Conference has been a Washington institution and a unique collaboration between consumer advocates, the food industry and government since . It is a key national gathering for those interested in agriculture, food and nutrition policy. Members from both houses of Congress, Administration officials such as the Secretaries of HHS and USDA, the FDA Commissioner and EPA Administrator, and leading academics in the field are among our speakers each year.

Consumer Assembly

Each year, CFA’s Consumer Assembly serves as the consumer movement’s principal meeting where issues are debated and new initiatives are presented. Since the Assembly’s inception in 1966, thousands of CFA members, consumer advocates, and representatives of cooperatives, trade unions, business, government, academics, and the press have participated in this annual conference.

Awards Celebration

CFA's success over the years would not have been possible without the efforts and support of our allies in government, media, and other consumer organizations who have fought to advance pro-consumer policies, shined a spotlight on consumer abuses, and joined us in the campaign to right consumer wrongs. CFA has recognized these champions with presentations of the Philip Hart Public Service Award, Esther Peterson Consumer Service Award, Consumer Champion Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, and Betty Furness Consumer Media Honors for more than 50 years.

Financial Services Conference

Each year, CFA convenes the Financial Services Conference (FSC), a leading forum for examining emerging policy issues in banking, insurance, investor protection, housing, privacy, and financial technology. With participation from consumer advocates and the financial services industry, the FSC creates a unique space for meaningful, cross-sector dialogue. Since 1987, the conference has brought together advocates, state and federal regulators, industry leaders, researchers, media, and other stakeholders to exchange diverse perspectives and advance a shared commitment to strong consumer financial protection.
