Buying food represents most consumers’ most frequent interaction with the market economy, and appropriate oversight and industry accountability should facilitate informed, healthy dietary choices that are consistent with consumers’ values, while minimizing the burden of foodborne illness. CFA works to strengthen food safety and food marketing protections that benefit individual consumers and broader public health goals alike.
