CFA Says to Hit the Pause Button on Washington State Privacy Bill

In a letter to the Washington State Senate Ways and Means Committee, Consumer Federation of America said it opposed SB 6281, the Washington Privacy Act, because the bill would do little to change business practices built on exploiting individuals’ personal information or provide meaningful privacy protection for Washingtonians. Instead, CFA suggested that the legislature “hit the pause button” and convene a balanced group of stakeholders to craft a bill that puts people’s human and privacy rights front and center.
