CFA Joins Consumer Advocates Urging FCC to Carefully Control HHS’s Proposed Use of Automated Texts and Prerecorded Calls

CFA joins a coalition of consumer advocates led by the National Consumer Law Center urging the Federal Communications Commission to exercise caution in permitting HHS to use automated calls and texts reminding consumers about enrollment in governmental health insurance programs. Health insurance scam robocalls flood consumers’ cell phones, and permitting HHS to engage use prerecorded phone calls and texts presents a risk that scam calls will increase sharply. The consumer coalition asks the FCC to take specific measures to protect consumers from unwanted robocalls.
