Groups Oppose Bills to Weaken VA Consumers’ Rights to Ask Data Brokers to Delete their Personal Information

In letters to the Virginia House and Senate Committees on General Laws, Consumer Federation and other consumer and privacy groups stated their opposition to HB 331 and SB 393, bills that would amend the Consumer Data Protection Act by allowing data brokers to disregard consumers’ requests to delete their data under the law and instead treat them as requests to opt out of sale, targeted advertising and profiling.
