
Brad Lipton is a visiting Senior Fellow at the Consumer Federation of America, where he works on a variety of consumer protection issues, including medical debt, financial services reform, and banking. Brad previously served for more than a decade at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, most recently as Senior Advisor to the General Counsel. In that role, he was involved in nearly all aspects of the CFPB’s management, including strategy, policy, and litigation, building partnerships with states across the country and developing and advising on regulatory action, pending cases, and enforcement. Brad has significant expertise in administrative law, preemption of state law, the intersection of technology and financial products, debt collection, consumer lending, credit reporting, bank accounts, mortgage servicing, real estate settlement, and financial regulation more broadly.
Brad graduated from Yale College and Yale Law School and clerked on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
