Eric Friedman is the Director of Montgomery County’s Office of Consumer Protection (OCP) in Maryland. He has worked in Montgomery County’s consumer protection office for the past 40 years and seeks to leverage resources to focus on consumer scams which target minority communities, senior citizens, and vulnerable consumers. OCP has a talented staff and a dedicated team of volunteers. He currently serves as a consumer representative on Maryland’s Collection Agency Licensing Board, appointed by Governor O’Malley and Governor Hogan. He has appeared on NBC Today Show and Dateline, ABC 20/20 and Good Morning America, CBS 48 Hours, National Public Radio, and been quoted in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, U.S. News & World Report, Money, and Kiplinger’s.  He received a law degree from George Mason University School of Law (1986), received a B.A. in Political Science from George Washington University (1979), and is a member of the Maryland and D.C. Bars.
