CFA Supports the California Location Privacy Act

The Consumer Federation of America joined 20 other consumer and privacy advocacy organizations in supporting AB 322, the California Location Privacy Act of 2025. This act would place reasonable restrictions on the unnecessary collection, use, and disclosure of location information. Location data has been used  to facilitate financial fraud, generate unfair differential pricing, and can be aggregated and shared with a number of other bad actors. Legislation like the California Location Privacy Act is more important for consumers than ever, especially with increased attacks targeting immigrants, Black and Brown community members, LGBTQ people, and individuals seeking reproductive health care.
