Corey Frayer Joins CFA as New Director of Investor Protection

Washington, D.C. – The Consumer Federation of America (CFA) is pleased to announce Corey Frayer as its new Director of Investor Protection. With an extensive background in financial regulation and consumer advocacy, Corey brings a wealth of experience from Capitol Hill and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), where he played a pivotal role in shaping policies to safeguard investors and promote financial stability.

Most recently, Corey served as Senior Adviser to SEC Chair Gary Gensler, focusing on financial stability and crypto asset markets, ensuring strong oversight and investor protections. Prior to that, he held key positions on the Senate Banking Committee, advising Chairman Sherrod Brown on prudential regulation and consumer financial protection, and on the House Financial Services Committee and for Representative Brad Miller, working on landmark initiatives such as overseeing the implementation of the Dodd-Frank Act.

“I’m honored to continue my work advocating for consumers and investors at CFA, an organization whose expertise I have relied on throughout my career,” said Corey Frayer, Director of Investor Protection. “Now more than ever, working Americans need the deep knowledge and aggressive advocacy CFA provides.”

Corey will lead CFA’s efforts to advocate for policies that protect investors from predatory financial practices, ensure market integrity, and promote accountability in the financial sector.
