USDA Under Secretary Kevin Concannon, USDA Under Secretary Catherine Woteki, and FDA Deputy Commissioner for Foods Mike Taylor top list of speakers at annual conference
Washington, D.C. (May 1, 2012) – This year’s National Food Policy Conference, scheduled for May 17-18 at the Capitol Hilton Hotel in Washington, DC, will assemble leading experts in food, agriculture and nutrition policy to discuss an array of important and timely issues facing consumers, the food industry and government.
The conference, now in its 35th year, will feature addresses by USDA Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services Kevin Concannon, USDA Under Secretary for Research, Education, and Economics Catherine Woteki, and FDA Deputy Commissioner for Foods Mike Taylor, among others. The conference will examine voter attitudes on food and nutrition issues and provide an update from top Administration officials on key food safety and nutrition initiatives. Speakers and panelists will discuss a number of timely food policy topics including efforts to improve nutrition for competitive foods, the challenges of antibiotic resistant pathogens, the continuing debate on food biotechnology, the role of third party auditors in food safety, and the impact of immigration reform on food production.
