b'2021 ANNUAL REPORT that over $158,592,265 was deposited at the 13 financial intuitions receiving the Designation of Savings Excellence Award.America Saves for Young Workers:The America Saves for Young Workers (ASYW) program continued to be a leader in promoting youth financial capability throughout 2021. This initiative seeks to encourage young workers employed by municipal and nonprofit jobs programs to utilize direct deposit and save a portion of each paycheck. In 2021, 14 youth employment programs implemented the America Saves for Young Workers program and these programs employed 94,238 youth. 8,590 young workers took the America Saves Pledge, building their savings plan and making a commitment to their financial wellness. Those young workers planned to save a total of $18,101,198, with the average young worker pledging to save $2,107 over five and a half months. This is a significant increase in amount planned to save, as the average total pledge in 2020 was $1,670 to be saved over five months. This years savings goals track the top three from 2020, but overall makeup a smaller portion of all savings goals (49% in 2021 as compared to 57% in 2020). For the second year in a row, building an emergency fund was the second most popular goal with our youth, and clothing and shoes remained a top three goal for young workers. America Saves launched the National Youth Advisory Council in 2021 with 24 youth selected from all over the country and almost 400 applicants. They co-hosted a Town Hall on Paying for Education, which was viewed almost 8,000 times.Military Saves:CFA continued working alongside military installations, financial institutions, nonprofit organizations and government entities throughout the country and abroad to promote saving among service members and military families with the Military Saves program. In the month of April 2021, over 489 organizations and installations participated in the annual Military Saves Month campaign, which included all four branches of the military, with a total reach of 10.7 million for the Month. The service branches were supported by a significant number of defense credit unions, military banks, banking liaison officers, and nonprofit service organizations to motivate and encourage the entire military community to save effectively.
