CFA Comments on Proposed Rule to Authorize Chinese Chicken Imports
CFA submitted the following comments to the Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) on its proposed rule to allow the People’s Republic of China to export cooked chicken products derived from poultry slaughtered in China. The comments raise concerns about ongoing Chinese food safety scandals and whether FSIS met its statutory and regulatory requirements for approving China’s application to import chicken to the United States.
