Safe Food Coalition Tells Congress to Hold the Raw Milk
CFA joined members of the Safe Food Coalition in opposing the seventh incarnation of H.R. 7880, the Interstate Milk Freedom Act, which seeks to overturn the 1987 ban on the interstate sales of raw milk. As the letter explains, getting rid of the ban would be a public health disaster, especially for young children. From 2013 to 2018, raw milk caused 75 outbreaks and sickened 675 people. Allowing interstate sales would likely increase that public health burden significantly.
