Consumer Groups Concerned Over Senate Commerce Committee's Exclusion of Consumer Representatives from Privacy Hearing

In a letter to Chairman John Thune and Ranking Member Bill Nelson of the Senate Commerce Committee, consumer and privacy organizations express surprise and concern that not a single consumer representative was invited to testify at the September 26 hearing “Examining Safeguards for Consumer Data Privacy.” While the committee's consideration of these important issues is appreciated, the groups do not understand why the Committee has chosen to exclude the voice of consumers.
