CFA, CSPI Join Environmental Advocates in Urging Caution, Transparency in Gene Editing Policy
CFA joined the Center for Science in the Public Interest, Environmental Defense Fund, and National Wildlife Federation in submitting the following comments on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Innovation Agenda. The comments urge USDA to establish policies to make gene editing technology more transparent, accessible, and supportive of broad societal benefits. In particular, the comments call for a national registry of all gene-edited products intended for agriculture and environmental use, and independent and transparent oversight of gene edited products’ risks.
