CFA Condemns the Administration’s Unlawful Rescission of Funds Appropriated for Housing
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Trump Administration is canceling $56 million of the $58 million Congress appropriated for housing counseling through a pocket rescission. This is the third time in the past two years that funding for these critical programs has come under threat.
“CFA condemns the Administration’s unlawful rescission of funds that Congress appropriated for housing, said Sharon Cornelissen, Director of Housing. "Housing counselors are critical frontline workers in our housing crisis. They have helped millions of Americans buy their first home, avoid eviction or foreclosure, and rebuild their financial stability and credit. They remain among the few independent housing experts that families can turn to for help. By withdrawing these funds, the Administration is abandoning American families struggling with escalating housing costs.”
CFA stands with the housing counseling organizations and professionals who are on the front lines of our housing crisis. They are trusted partners for communities and meet local housing challenges in communities across the country.
We urge policymakers to protect the resources housing counselors need to continue serving families across the country.
