Letter to National Association of Insurance Commissioners on Auto Insurers' Use of Occupation and Education as Rating Factors

The Consumer Federation of America has recently conducted an analysis of the pricing practices of ten large auto insurers related to customers' educational and occupational status. Several of these insurance companies charge substantially higher premiums to good drivers for no reason other than the fact that they work in a low-wage job and don't have a college degree.
