CFA TC

CFA wrote to members of the House Financial Services Committee in support of several pro-investor bills scheduled for discussion in conjunction with the Committee’s October 5, 2021, oversight hearing with Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler. CFA expressed support for the following bills:

  • To amend the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 with respect to the Office of the Investor Advocate, and for other purposes.
  • Empowering States to Protect Seniors from Bad Actors Act
  • To prohibit registered investment advisers, brokers, and registered representatives of brokers from facilitating the transaction of or recommending the securities of certain special purpose acquisition companies, and for other purposes.
  • Investor Choice Act of 2021
  • The Investor Justice Act
  • To amend the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 to improve the governance of multi-class stock companies, to require issuers to make annual diversity disclosures, and for other purposes
  • Whistleblower Protection Reform Act
In general, these bills respond to weaknesses in the regulatory regime governing our securities markets and strengthen investor protections that will help advance the interests of retail and retirement investors.
