In a letter to Chairman Flake and Ranking Member Franken of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Privacy, Technology, and Law, CFA and other consumer privacy advocates are encouraging committee members to support the FCC's proposal to protect broadband consumers' privacy. CFA notes that if consumers cannot trust their broadband provider to protect their content and personal information, the result could be an erosion of consumer privacy and chilling of online speech. Thus, the FCC should be allowed to proceed in its implementation of section 222 to protect broadband consumers' privacy.
