WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Consumer Federation of America (CFA) released its Blueprint for a Consumer-First Congress, a practical roadmap outlining actions Congress can take to lower costs, increase accountability, improve competition, and strengthen consumer protections for American households. The blueprint has been shared with members of Congress as a resource for policymakers seeking solutions to the affordability crisis facing consumers across the country.
Drawing on more than five decades of consumer advocacy, research, and education, the blueprint addresses issues ranging from housing, food, financial services, and insurance to scams, AI and privacy, product safety, and market concentration. The recommendations focus specifically on tools within congressional control, including oversight, legislation, appropriations, investigations, and structural reforms, to help address the rising cost of living and restore fairness to the marketplace.
