Richard Eckman

Communications Manager and Energy Advocate

Richard Eckman serves as the Communications Manager and Energy Advocate for Consumer Federation of America. Richard helps manage media outreach, keeping press contacts up-to-date and works on a number of CFA’s public policy issues, focusing on energy efficiency issues by advocating for stronger standards that benefit consumers. He oversees CFA’s campaign to increase motor vehicle fuel efficiency and decrease dependence on oil. He also advocates for more stringent home appliance and electronics efficiency standards.

Prior to joining CFA, Richard worked as a Public Relations & Research Associate with a focus on auto safety and federal fuel economy standards for light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles at Gillis and Associates and served as co-author of The Car Book from 2014 to 2020, published by the Center for Auto Safety. Richard has a B.A. in Government from Franklin and Marshall.
