Bill Newton is Deputy Director of the Florida Consumer Action Network, where he has served since 1987. He works on consumer issues including insurance, utilities, healthcare, and environment. Newton’s extensive work on insurance issues includes fraud, homeowner, life, health, and auto. He was a funded consumer advocate for the National Association of Insurance Commissioners for three years and has testified before the Florida legislature on insurance issues. He has been widely quoted on consumer issues in news outlets such as U.S. News & World Report, Scientific American, National Public Radio, Insurance Journal, Nerd Wallet, Tampa Bay Times, Orlando Sentinel, Miami Herald, and others. In addition to serving as a board member and Secretary of the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud, he is a member of the Progress Florida Advisory Board and was appointed to the Home Foreclosure Task Force by Gov. Charlie Crist.
