39th Annual National Food Policy Conference Scheduled for April 6 & 7, 2016 in Washington, DC

FDA’s Stephen Ostroff and USDA’s Kevin Concannon among leading experts to address conference

Washington, D.C. – For the 39th year, the Consumer Federation of America will host the Annual National Food Policy Conference in Washington, DC on April 6 & 7, 2016. The event explores timely issues facing consumers, the food industry and government.

Among the confirmed speakers are Stephen Ostroff, former Acting Commissioner of Food and Drugs at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and Kevin Concannon, Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Additional speakers will be added to the program as they are confirmed.

This year’s agenda explores key food policy issues affecting consumers, the food industry and government. The agenda offers a variety of facilitated discussions, from examining the presidential candidates’ food policy positions, to exploring consumer demand for more information about how foods are produced. With GMO labeling, federal food assistance programs, and the Food Safety Modernization Act all making headlines, there’ll be no shortage of timely topics brought to life in sessions and breakout panels.

Since its inception, the National Food Policy Conference has been a Washington institution and a unique collaboration between consumer advocates, the food industry and government. The conference is organized by the Consumer Federation of America and is a highly anticipated national gathering for those interested in agriculture, food and nutrition policy.
